The show is centered around five characters who live in Pasadena, California. The main characters are Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, Howard, and Raj. Leonard and Sheldon are co-workers and roommates. Both Leonard and Sheldon work as physicists. Penny is their neighbor, who works as a waitress and is also an aspiring actress. Howard and Raj are Leonard and Sheldon's socially awkward friends and co-workers. The cast expands when Howard marries his wife Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz and Shelden marries his wife, Amy Fowler. The show centers around how Shelden and Leonard’s as well as their introverted friends life style quickly changes when they meet their lively neighbor Penny.
